Real relishing fight for La Liga title

Real had briefly gone top of La Liga last week with a crunch 2-1 win over fierce rivals Barcelona.

But the reigning champions were replaced by Atletico Madrid 24 hours later and lost ground as they were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw at Getafe on Sunday.

Diego Simeone's Atleti had earlier outclassed Eibar 5-0 to re-open a three-point gap at the top.

Both teams have seven games remaining with Los Colchoneros at home to Huesca on Thursday evening, a day after Los Blancos' trip to Cadiz.

Real, who knocked Liverpool out of the Champions League last week and face Chelsea in the first leg of their semi-final next week, were flat at Getafe where they were without several key players through injury and suspension.

But Zidane insists there will be no letting up in their quest to overhaul Atletico and also fend off third-placed Barcelona, who are two points behind them with a game in hand.

"The important thing is that there is life," Zidane told reporters. "We are competing, which is how we like it and we are going to compete all the way until the last day. Whatever happens, we are going to compete until the last day.

"I don't know if we are going to win, but we are going to put all our strength into it. Competition encourages us."

Real Madrid are 2/5 to return to winning ways at Cadiz, who are a 7/1 chance with the draw 18/5.
